In my own experience theology is the most ignored or unacknowledged theme in the Odyssey. The gods, their providence, actions, thoughts and relation to humans is of supreme importance in the work and to understanding it.

that's actually very real, some movies get a pass as "bad adaptations but good movies" and I'd be willing to give this cgurity to Nolan's odyssey if it didn't look like neither
