It took two years of meetings and clearing institutional roadblocks to get NYU Prison Education started. In some ways, we are just getting started. This year has been challenging, but we have continued correspondence courses through the pandemic. And there have been some milestones:

In the weeks after we launched our campaign opposing the elimination of physical mail in DE prisons, Claude's mail was destroyed and tattered, empty envelopes were returned on 3 separate occasions, including his legal mail. beyond-prisons.com/home/action-re…

Late on Friday, we learned Claude was taken back to the SHU. Our efforts to call the prison and learn more were thwarted as calls went unanswered, to dead voicemails, or were redirected to the shift commander when we asked for the warden. beyond-prisons.com/home/action-re…
