Year 1 tackled a Commando Jo's misson this morning! We had to take the Storm Whale back home. We had to use different types of communication to help our team.

In DT we have been looking at a range of materials. We made a prediction if we could cut, bend, roll and fold before testing them out ourself.

In science we have been looking at materials. We had to make a prediction to see whether they would float or sink. We then tested them to see if our predictions were correct. Ask your puffin what material floated today!

Year 1 enjoyed their trip to the TVLB watch house in Tynemouth last week. We looked at how sea rescue has changed over time.

Today in science we investigated which material we could use for Father Christmas' present bag. We had to make sure the material was waterproof to protect the presents inside. Ask your Puffin which material was waterproof.

The puffins have been learning how to throw and catch in PE. Today we kept our own scores using tallies before playing a game of bench ball. Excellent communication and determination from everyone! 🤩

We planned and designed our sea creatures today in DT. We had to think about which materials we wanted to use and what they would look like.

Year 1 enjoyed meeting Santa and his reindeer on Friday. We all received a lovely gift from Father Christmas!

We have adopted a tree! 🌳🪾 As part of our science curriculum, we look at weather and the seasons. We will observe how the tree changes with each season.

We tackled another problem solving lesson using the Izak 9 cubes. We found shapes, ten-frames, numbers and spotted patterns.

Year 1 have enjoyed their Christmas Party today. We've had a disco, pass the pass parcel games, yummy food and lots of singing! Thank you everyone!

Today in maths we were counting and ordering numbers to 20. We had to order the numbers before making a human number track.

The puffins have had an amazing week! We are now enjoying PLZ with some reading, building, creating and colouring.

In maths we are learning about estimation. We had to estimate and plot numbers to 10 and 20 on the number line.
