1yr ago New York City Council enacted a law banning solitary confinement in NYC jails. The Mayor has refused to implement it. Yesterday, NYC Council filed a lawsuit to enforce implementation. We could not be prouder to join our sister defenders in an amicus in support of this legal action.

Discovery reform brought NY out of the dark ages & in line w/the standards of nearly every state in the US. DAs have received hundreds of millions to enact the law. They now want to completely gut discovery reform and take us back to the blindfold era. They should be ashamed.

The Governor and our state's prosecutors are trying to gut our discovery laws so they can more easily withhold evidence from the defense. The shameful proposal is premised on myths and misrepresentations. Don't fall for it. buffalonews.com/opinion/new-yo…

Fairness & due process hang in the balance as our landmark discovery reforms are debated behind closed doors. These negotiations should be public and the defense and those who are directly impacted should have a seat at the table. Our full stmt demanding transparency & parity 👇:

Natalie says I have seen firsthand the effects of solitary confinement on my clients every day. We are remembering Kalief Browder and Layleen Polanco who are victims of New York’s system of torture. We will not ever stop until there is no more solitary confinement.
