Exactly. The only hope I see is to put maximum pressure on the junta so it is forced to seek a way out. No way anyone’s going to persuade these guys to be reasonable. The worst regime in Southeast Asia since the Khmer Rouge.

Wow, can #Japan stoop any lower? Japan's defense ministry accepted four new Myanmar military soldiers for training in June, AFTER the junta announced it intends to carry out its death sentences. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/ne…

There must also be a transition plan, involving a ceasefire, stabilisation, an actual transition as well as a rewriting of the constitution, and a free & fair election that is agreed upon by all parties. Malaysia will oppose any election conducted by the junta, as should ASEAN.

In this very difficult time, the least we can do as a member of the international community, is to show our support and solidarity with our Myanmar sisters and brothers by engaging the NUG and the NUCC, and not to push them aside.

Myanmar people will remember this. I’m revolted whenever I’m forced to see that thing’s face but this woman not only touched him but also laughed with him. Yes, please exchange pleasantries while the junta kills and tortures people.

1/9 My investigation with Southeast Asia Globe revealed shocking allegations of violence targeting migrants in Bangkok's immigration detention centres. Behind the walls of these prison centers, detainees have nowhere to hide. southeastasiaglobe.com/refugees-in-th…

Here’s what 5 years of building a ‘personal brand’ has taught me: 1. You don’t need to know everything to get started 2. If you’re not enjoying your content, others won’t 3. Consistency is your golden ticket 4. Aim to be a guide over a guru - people connect with people

If India wants to outsmart China in the neighbourhood, it NEEDS to look beyond conventional realpolitik. This is especially true for #Myanmar. Delhi needs to do what Beijing isn’t doing right now i.e. INVEST IN THE PEOPLE. That’s how it will distinguish itself from Xi’s cronies.

I’m guessing a lot of people are going to be unhappy about this very sober assessment by Bertil Lintner, but it’s an important read. irrawaddy.com/opinion/guest-…

A rare, personal note published in The Nation. My father passed away a few months ago in Australia, dreaming about returning one day to his homeland of #Myanmar. Of course, going home was impossible because our homeland is being ruled by terror. .Human Rights Watch thenation.com/article/world/…

Myanmar's regime has failed to counter a stunning opposition offensive and may soon be forced to cede control of northern Shan State. But elsewhere, the outlook is less clear. New visual update from IISS explores key battles unfolding across Myanmar: myanmar.iiss.org/updates/2023-12
