Old iOS devices (before A7) had a few coprocessors that ran EmbeddedIOP (iBoot-based firmware) The leaked source contains CE-ATA stub in there. CE-ATA is a storage interface standard meant for HDDs in portable devices Could it mean Apple robbed us from iOS-based iPod classic?
