“Cost of literacy crisis” may be a new term (to us, at least), but the concept itself isn’t new. Who has the answers to the dire problems & needs that this points to? How can we raise enjoyment of Writing in the face of such adversity? Many ppl trying their best to turn it round.

Time and again, we find how important writing journals are. Just think of the writers we could have if Ross Young Ross Young’s idea gained traction…

Fronted adverbials Relative clauses Exclamation ‘sentences’ Phonics The subjunctive Arbitrary rules Etc You won’t find any of those at an NWP #writingteachers group meeting (unless you choose to use one).

We can debate stationery terms all day! Tomorrow, NWP UK Norwich Writing Teachers may find themselves doing just that. Join us in the refectory (Bread Source Cafè), Norwich C of E Cathedral, tomorrow (27/7) from 10:30am. We’ll be the gang discussing plastic wallets, etc.
