“Cost of literacy crisis” may be a new term (to us, at least), but the concept itself isn’t new. Who has the answers to the dire problems & needs that this points to? How can we raise enjoyment of Writing in the face of such adversity? Many ppl trying their best to turn it round.

A great Day 1 of UKLA Conference so far: such inspiring ideas for 'writing from the inside out' at Jeni Smith's NWP UK workshop, a fascinating symposium with Ross Young & National Literacy Trust, and some stunning picturebooks discovered at Norfolk Children's Book Centre! Now for the Book Awards...

Powerful UKLA conference keynote from Ian Cushing on how teachers are repeatedly pushed to remediate falsely perceived language defiencies of marginalised groups.

Thanks Stephen Dilley .. Jenibis our master bookmaker. ❤️ Children and students learn so much through the process of bookmaking, thinking, writing and all-important #metacognition. So many ways to develop writers’ skills and the knowledge of oneself.

Time and again, we find how important writing journals are. Just think of the writers we could have if Ross Young Ross Young’s idea gained traction…

We can debate stationery terms all day! Tomorrow, NWP UK Norwich Writing Teachers may find themselves doing just that. Join us in the refectory (Bread Source Cafè), Norwich C of E Cathedral, tomorrow (27/7) from 10:30am. We’ll be the gang discussing plastic wallets, etc.

Thank you, Barbara Bleiman 🎓 Education is Conversation 😎. We still have much work to do to our website, not least in transferring things from our archive which is still going five years after it was superseded. So much material on nationalwritingproject.uk as well!
