Ajok Jennifer is a person with short stature. Her determination and resilience are truly inspiring. She was trained by the project partners under the Ayim Maber project implemented by @nudipu, NUWODU & Challenges Uganda as tailor, a skill she didn't have.

Martin Ssenoga from .NUDIPU deepened participants understanding of disability, concepts, modules and the heightened risk of persons with disabilities in humanitarian situations. In situations of risk, persons with disabilities are 3x more susceptible to SGBV. #InclusiveWASH

Nelson Bugembe from .@Twezuulef broke down the meaning of functional impact, impairment and barriers with real life examples and experiences. And the barriers Persons with Disabilities contend with including Attitudes, Accessibility, Policies and Communication. #InclusiveWASH

James Muombamungu from .Association of Refugees with Disability-Uganda shared the different models of disability which include the medical, charity, social and human rights model. Reminding participants that the human rights model is the best approach for disability inclusion as per the UNCRPD. #InclusiveWASH.

Participants were given a visual representation of the concept of intersectionality by .Humanity & Inclusion_East Africa Region and the WASH related risks that rise up when different identities come together in humanitarian settings. #InclusiveWASH

After a recap of the first day of the #InclusiveWASH training by .Humanity & Inclusion_East Africa Region, a deep dive into UNCRPD Art. 9 followed. Participants were educated on which WASH interventions need to be accessible, common barriers in WASH facilities, and the elements that must be accessible.

The afternoon of the #InclusiveWASH training by .Humanity & Inclusion_East Africa Region was characterised by group work in utilisation of the Twin-track Approach in inclusive WASH interventions and identifying Must Do Actions. This was spearheaded by Emmanuela from .Malteser International

The 3rd day of the #InclusiveWASH training by .Humanity & Inclusion_East Africa Region kicked off with presentations on accessibility assessments of WASH facilities within the venue to enable participants understand inclusive accessibility needs, standards and usefulness of the tool.

A module on disability inclusive menstrual hygiene & management in humanitarian settings introduced participants to menarche, what girls & women need, period poverty, WASH in Schools and the compounded menstrual health challenges girls & women face in emergency situations.

It’s indeed great hearing from the practitioner herself from NUWODU sharing her practical inclusive MHM practices 🙏🏾👏🏿❤️

Olivia from .@unadeaf was given the opportunity to share with participants the Diversity Health App which was developed to increase availability & utilisation of Deaf friendly SRHR information & services in Uganda. #InclusiveWASH
