🚞 Just kicked off a toilet tour of Northern Line stations with Green Assembly candidate @KateTokely at Hendon Central.

🚽 Everyone we spoke to wanted more public toilets and complained about being forced to use work-arounds like going to the gym or a cafe to find a loo.

That was me!

Hustings are an essential part of an election - where people get to ask questions & get commitments.

Sometimes there will be unavoidable situations meaning candidates cannot make hustings but it should not be the norm.

A British man goes to book his NHS appointment.

‘The soonest we can book you in is 2029’.

‘Morning or afternoon?’

‘What does it matter, it’s five years from now?’

‘I’ve booked a train ticket for the afternoon’

TLDR of the Cass Review:

'we disregarded nearly all studies because they weren't double blinded controlled studies. We also stopped reviewing newer studies released in the last two years. As a result, we were left with very little evidence.'

This is an impossible standard.

Why should any Londoner vote for a party that doesn’t go to hustings, and doesn’t even have a published manifesto?

(PS the green manifesto is here: zoegarbett.london/manifesto/)

- Greens on the Assembly have secured funding for youth services, pushed for meaningful reform of the Met police, protected green space...

Caroline Russell explains how voting on the London-wide ballot results in people from your party getting elected 👇

💚 Thanks to OnLondon for this write up of my manifesto launch

'...said Greens, embedded in their communities, “believe in a London that’s not for rogue landlords, bankers or corporate [CEOs] but for its people – for us”' 💚

“Though it seemed completely automated, Just Walk Out relied on more than 1,000 people in India watching and labeling videos to ensure accurate checkouts. The cashiers were simply moved off-site, and they watched you as you shopped.”

I think this is a really smart campaign – thinking about what the future of transport actually looks like, and areas where car journeys can't be replaced

I forgot Baildon, where the landslip is so dramatic that two houses are going to have to be demolished before the line can be reopened.

The number of closures on the rail network currently due to landslips or ground movement has got to be some sort of record. By my count, lines are closed at New Mills, Wellington, Grange-over-Sands, Pontefract and Edenbridge. Aging infrastructure struggling with climate change.

The greater danger will be the intense pressure to please those on the right like John and Janan..not least when John and Janan- and others that cannot cope with politics a milimetre to the left of David Cameron-are unbiddable:

Mad thing about this is there are trains needed that this factory would build. TfL needs more class 345s for the Elizabeth Line but the government hasn’t put in the order. Factories like this need a steady stream of work and this one has had one since the 19th century

I think we can all agree what the hate crime debate needed was an intervention from Simon Jenkins. This is high art; almost as if someone had set a competition to see how many errors you could fit into two paragraphs. amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
