I know things happen for a reason. But sometimes I look back and wish I took a left instead or a right on this journey called life.

I take a hiatus. Well... I guess it was a long one.😬 Lots of changes- some people are married, some have kids, some have moved states...

Do you trust your gut feelings? Or are you like me- educated, tough as nails (most days), tell it as it is honest... but when it comes to relationships I turn into an insecure 13 year old with braces, glasses, & absolutely no clue what I’m doing. No? Just me? Okay. Cool.

The ELECTIVE out patient surgery center I work at PRN DID NOT cancel surgical procedures this week. The bottom line & people staying at home due to COVID 19 “want to recover from surgery while they are approved to work from home” is more important than protecting others.

If all hospitals limited visitors and/or visitation hours for ALL patients at this time... I’m thinking about the amount of PPE we could preserve for caregiver use in the weeks/ months to come. SOME families go in/out hourly... the amount of PPE we save would add up quick.

THIS IS SCARY! I have never been scared to be a nurse- until now.

Those of you taking care of COVID pts- are you receiving HAZARD PAY?

Many nurses are proud to care for COVID patients. I don’t feel that way. I am SCARED facing COVID with little protection, ANGRY nurses on my unit cannot refuse COVID pts or “we loose our job”, and ANXIOUS about how the next several months will go. This is just the beginning.

I didn’t see this coming. I struggle to not burst into tears on a daily basis. Pride is the only thing keeping me from having a complete breakdown. If I can’t hold it together... I know others will give up. Being known as a strong person & a leader is a big responsibility.

Drunk as a skunk in the bath tub for the fist time in 6 years. Why? More demands on my CCU turned COVID unit, and I can’t deal. This is unreal. I never thought it would get this bad, IT HAS.

Not. I’m not okay. None of the nurses that got told they are COVID nurses are okay- I don’t care what lies they tell people. It is not an honor. It is not what we signed up for.

I’m no doctor, but if the president is mixing azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, and a large dosage of adderall, in addition to god knows what else, it can have disastrous consequences.🤷🏻‍♀️

Resident: *being rude and condescending to me* I want to report you to the charge nurse. Me: No problem, come with me she's at the nurse's station. Me: *turns around* Hey, I'm the charge nurse. What's the problem?

Okay... I dislike negotiating pay. I always find out later I got screwed. I was contacted by a head hunter due to my cardiac ICU experience. They are telling me that $35/hr is a fair rate for 8 years ICU experience in the Denver area. I fell like that is low. 🤔

Yes. I’m stressed. I have been taking care of COVID pts for 6 weeks. There still isn’t a treatment that helps ICU pts. Not donor plasma, abx, Vit C, plaquenil, etc. Nothing. I feel helpless. Everywhere I turn people call us heroes. No, I’m not. It doesn’t make me feel good.

I am sitting in the chair- My dentist asks “are you stressed?” I lost it. Full water works.😢 Literally the dentist & her assistant are wiping my tears off my face. She says “Oh, honey. You aren’t okay.” I’ve held it together 6 weeks, & I loose my shit at the dentist?🥴

Nurses at my hosp received NOTHING for nurses week This makes giving my notice in a week SO MUCH EASIER. There is a special place in hell for admins prioritizing getting their bonus over giving back to nursing staff right now.
