On Friday 1st year NS students took part in a panel discussion on education in Nunavut with Minister Pam Gross and representatives from ITK. Students spoke passionately about their experiences in the education system, and of their visions for the future.

This week the 2nd year NS students met virtually with teachers from Alaska's Ilisagvik College as part of their Circumpolar People's class. We talked about Iñupiat history, and compared lifestyles. What an awesome visit!

This week, the 1st year NS class took part in a mock NWMB meeting. As members of QIA, GN, and CIRNAC, students negotiated management decisions for the fictional Aqpik caribou herd. Qujannamiik to the Gordon Foundation for sponsoring this event!

NS students catch their classmate Grace Metuq as they play "Igunaujaq" in Meeka Kakudluk's Inuktitut class. What a lot of laughter!

After a full day of intense academics, students took a break and played nalukataak (blanket toss) in the park!

This past Friday Ottawa NS students went to Montréal to visit the Québec NS. It was amazing to get to know each other, talk about what each school is studying, and jam together. Qujannamiik Nunavik Sivunitsavut for the amazing visit!

Yesterday NS students went to see MP Lori Idlout at Parliament as she and her fellow MP's were discussing Indigenous education. Qujannamiik for welcoming us, Lori.

This past Friday NS students had their final ulu making lesson with our elder and cultural teacher, David Erkloo. Qujannamiik David for all your hard work with NS students this year!

Friday NS students finished their final written and oral exams! 🎇🎇🎇 Next stop - our year end cultural trip to Haida Gwaii in northern BC.

With final exams done, NS students got up at 4:30 yesterday to start our year end cultural exchange trip. After 3 planes, 1 bus, and a ferry we finally made it to beautiful Haida Gwaii. Kajjarnaqtuq!

Today in Haida Gwaii NS students performed for the community, and got to help carve a giant canoe with our Haida hosts. What a huge tree!!

Taloyoak high school students toured NS yesterday. Awesome to meet you all!

Nunavut Sivuniksavut Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Martha Kyak as new Executive Director.

Yesterday NS students took part in a conference on Inuit education.   Students shared their experiences and their visions for the future with Nunavut Education Minister Pam Gross, as well as representatives from Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and the United Nations.
