On #VeteransDay, 94 year old Mutsuo "Muts" Hirose shared his wartime experience of serving as U.S. Army linguist in #WWII with David Ono at NVN dinner in Washington DC. "Muts" was drafted at age 18 from Tule Lake WRA camp.

Hitoshi "Moe" Yonemura, a popular #UCLA yell leader and ROTC member, served in #442nd RCT in #WWII enlisting from Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation Moe was awarded a silver star for his courageous actions. Named "Distinguished Californian" a memorial scholarship was established at UCLA in 2002.

Happy #ValentinesDay! Sharing the #lovestory ♥️of Alfred Arakaki U.S. Army's 100th Inf. Bat who met Paulette Casanovas while serving in France in #WWII. After courtship, he proposed & married on November 17, 1945. They raised 4 sons in Hawaii and were happily married for 71 years.

Remembering Theodore "Ted" Kanamine, born in California and grew up in #WWII WRA Jerome camp was the @usarmy's first Japanese-American general. He believed in the philosophy of ‘Duty – Honor – Country.’ He passed away at age 93. washingtonpost.com/obituaries/202…

On #MedalOfHonorDay, we salute the 21 Japanese American soldiers awarded the Medal of Honor, the US's highest military decoration awarded for extraordinary acts of valor. The 100th/442nd RCT is the most decorated unit in U.S. military history for its size & length of service.
