'We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now': Reverend King's message resonates with the 2024 call to collaboration in UNICEF's latest #GlobalOutlook for children launched, as it happens, on #MLKDay2024

Since 1946, UNICEF has worked to save children’s lives and help them fulfil their potential.

As the world becomes increasingly hostile to children’s rights, this is a look back at our work in 2023.

In October, three major earthquakes struck Herat Province, Afghanistan, killing 1,500 people.

Naysán Sahba talked to children and families about the life-saving support and services UNICEF Afghanistan and partners have provided.

No child should go hungry. No child should be malnourished. No child’s prospects should be stunted due to malnutrition. It’s immoral. It’s preventable. @unicef strives to protect children from its worst effects but the needs in places like #Afghanistan are outstripping resources.

Our colleagues in #Sudan have heard bone-chilling stories of the harrowing journeys women and children were forced to make as fighting escalates in Al Jazirah state.

No child should experience the horrors of war. Children must be protected.

It’s the first-ever Children’s Day at #COP28 .

UNICEF is on the ground with children and young people, amplifying their voices and advocating the importance of child rights in #ClimateAction .

Past the #COP28 halfway mark, I trust negotiators and delegates hear Francisco’s message: “My invitation for you is to have eco-hope. But an eco-hope full and based on actions and commitments.”

The impact of months of war in #Sudan has resulted in the largest displacement crisis in the world.

But still, Sudan is at risk of becoming a forgotten crisis.

Unicef and partners continue to deliver life-saving assistance to millions of children. But much more is needed.
