Jun 3, 1989: Toronto's SkyDome opens. Built on the site of CN's Spadina roundhouse, one proposed name for it was Roundhouse Stadium. It cost almost $600 million, most coming from Ontario taxpayers, a testimony to the power of dome champion and then-Metro Chair Paul Godfrey. 1/3
