Irrespective of whether it is a good idea or not, it seems nuts that the Mayor of London can't even pedestrianise a street without permission from the Deputy Prime Minister. Let's make devolution substantive! Centre for Cities bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Why do Spanish cities look and feel so good? The paving is clean. The streets are buzzing. The metros are world-class. Part of the reason is land readjustment. 🧵

The heatwave is a good reminder that the new homes we are building don't have A/C, despite being very well-insulated in a warming climate. We think the Government should say that A/C is good, and allow it to be used to comply with overheating regulations.

If national political reporters want to hone in on actual cause of shift to Trump last election, it's quite plainly Democratic NIMBYism. You all spilled so much ink on "inflation" but never unpacked most of inflation was housing, and most of that was caused by Democratic NIMBYs.

Our budget agreement with the Governor is now public. We fully protected public transportation funding — reversing all proposed cuts — & fully protected the $750M loan to Bay Area transit systems we previously agreed to with the Assembly. 🧵

This Friday, Governor Gavin Newsom will sign the most transformative housing bill of a generation into law - AB 609, which formally recognizes new homes built in cities are good for the environment. Buffy Wicks is a hero for authoring the bill. And California YIMBY has the best team in the biz.

This bill is expected to be signed into law by the Governor on Friday. Why is it such a big deal? Let us explain in a short thread.

Thank you Senator Scott Wiener for your continued leadership on public transit! The Bay Area runs on Muni, BART, and Caltrain - we need to protect, improve, and expand it. 🚍

We're so close to fixing key drivers of California's housing crisis: ✅️ SB 79 would legalize apartments near transit. ✅️ AB 130 would end frivolous litigation against infill. ✅️ AB 253 + AB 1308 would prevent permitting/inspection delays. ➡️ Here's how you can help.
