Steven I like this clear summary of each of these tools. Bill Harding and his Amplenote team have put together a wonderfully comprehensive site that compares 27 note-taking apps across hundreds of attributes, for those wanting to dive in deep: noteapps.info

Note-taking is simple. The complexity of note-taking comes when we want to learn from our notes. Instead of explaining how note-taking works, explain how you learn from the notes you take.

New from Dept of Circumstantial Data: which note apps have we cataloged most new features in over the past three months? 1. Craft.do 2. Amplenote 3. FuseBase | Smart Workspaces powered by AI Agents 4. Taskade 5. Reflect We could create a feed of newly launched features by app if enough request it

Our all-time #1 audience-requested "Note app to index," with 91 votes tallied is the old classic, @TiddlyWiki. We're excited to report that it's now live! noteapps.info/apps/tiddlywiki This marks our 29th app indexed. What should be 30th? Things? OmniFocus? Capacities?

It's unprecedented how much Logseq 🪵 has gotten done in their first 100k Diff Delta. Typically, an app good enough for widespread acclaim requires 300-500k DD (~3 years of a strong full time dev). They've built a much-beloved tool while changing very little code vs peers 🧵

Notetaking is like forming an alliance between your past, present, and future selves You’re putting together a dream team of creative collaborators leveraging everything you’ve ever known and will ever know

The more open loops you have running in your mind the more stressed & overwhelmed you feel A common misconception is that you have to finish the task to close the loop You don’t & often you can't! Another way to close a loop is to write it down (so you can revisit it later)

It was a crazy productive year for the top 3rd gen note taking apps! public.amplenote.com/QkX5m3X3hQWzPb… Any Obsidian users who could create a list of the biggest improvements by month + a link to explain each, so Bill Harding can complete this table? 🙏

The award for biggest YoY growth in user interest goes to Reflect, which went from 8th place in 2023 to 4th place in 2024. Great year for this team! 🏆

We've completed the table of 2023's biggest-upgrade-by-month for three of the note apps that generated the greatest user interest in the past year (see data in previous tweet). A version of table with live links is available upon request.

Our project for the month: cataloging how AI is being integrated by all the note apps. Any other killer AI features you think deserve to be cataloged?

We undertook hours of analytics parsing this month in search of an updated answer to "which note/task apps are generating the most heat lately?" The short answer: Anytype, Amplenote, and Capacities. Most surprising: the (relative) dip in Obsidian. Unclear why though?
