On 3/10/23, the 1st Annual North Shore HS International Dessert Competition took place to culminate World Language Week with students, faculty, & staff baking a wide variety of desserts to represent their respective culture. Judges sampled each dessert & Tres Leche Cupcakes won!

Recently, GH fifth graders received their certificates and prize for placing 2nd in the NYU Rock that Movie Chinese Contest. 25 schools in 7 states in the United States participated in this competition this year. Congrats to Ms. Jingwen Cai and her students!

GLEN HEAD SCHOOL FOOD TRUCKS Arts & World Language teachers at have collaborated & created an interdisciplinary project. In Art, 5th graders learned to create forms, textures, and color with clay. In Spanish, they applied these skills to create food trucks of various countries.

5TH GRADE TRIP TO FLUSHING CHINATOWN 2023 On 4/29, the FLES (Foreign Language) Mandarin team led over 100 students on a cultural excursion to Chinatown, Flushing. Envisioned as an opportunity to connect their World language learning to the target language, culture, and community.

SEA CLIFF SCHOOL MANDARIN DRAMA PERFORMANCE. Today, Sea Cliff students in the Mandarin club took the stage to perform in a thirty-minute play entirely in Mandarin titled, "The Monkey King," under the direction of teacher, Mr. David Schultz.

GH 2ND GRADERS TAKE VIRTUAL TRIP TO CHINA Teacher Ms. Cai said, “The trip was the big final project. My Mandarin students made their own suitcases, created flight tickets, finished passports, packed their clothing, & learned all the Mandarin words for traveling to China.”
