Sand dunes are a key part of Norfolk's coastal landscape. These biodiversity hotspots are home to rare orchids, insects, arachnids, and shorebirds. In winter they offer protection to grey seals and their pups. #WorldSandDuneDay πŸ“· Justin Minns | Hanne Siebers | Rob Coleman

Despite the downpour, volunteers Ian and Neil were out with Facilities Co-ordinator Chris this morning, replacing the handrails on one of the bridges at Morston Quay. They will be back to carry out more bridge repairs in the coming weeks. Amazing work! 🌧️πŸͺšπŸ‘ πŸ“· Ben Smyth

It’s been a wonderful summer for poppies in the Norfolk countryside. Have you spotted any of the equally vibrant, yellow-horned poppies on the coast? #wildflowers #wildflowerhour #Norfolk πŸ“· Richard Steer

A quick reminder about our community drop-in event at Morston Quay: A chance to find out about our plans to improve access for people with disabilities and provide all visitors with a more enjoyable and welcoming experience. Find us in the marquee next to the Lookout Building.

A big 'thank you' to our Countryside Ambassadors, Mary and Jane, who helped with a litter pick along a section of the Norfolk Coast Path earlier today. Three bags of rubbish filled, before finishing off with a sweep of the car park at Morston Quay. πŸ’šπŸŒŸ

Common sea lavender on Blakeney Point. Found on mudflats, creek banks and saltmarshes, common sea lavender is not actually related to lavender - although it is a great source of nectar for bees, wasps, butterflies, and moths. #wildflowers #wildflowerhour πŸ“· Richard Steer

A pyramid orchid nestled among the sand dunes on Blakeney Point. These orchids have a symbiotic relationship with a particular fungus which helps them to absorb nutrients from the soil. #wildflowers #wildflowerhour #Norfolk πŸ“·Richard Steer

A pair of common seals looking pretty laidback on the sandbanks off Blakeney Point. Taken from one of the seal boat trips from Morston Quay - this is the best way to see them atm as restrictions to prevent disturbance to ground-nesting bird are still in place. πŸ“· Hanne Siebers

You wait all summer to catch a glimpse of a crane… and then two dozen show up all at once! An amazing wildlife moment at Heigham Holmes nature reserve last week. πŸ“· Beth Davenport

Using the tractor to create footdrains on Heigham Holmes. These small dykes are ideal for breeding waders such as Lapwing. Wader chicks will feed in the shallow edges of the water and over time unique ditch flora will be present. πŸ“· Beth Davenport
