How much has changed in the medical field since #ER began in 1994? #ThePitt star Noah Wyle: "The biggest difference is in 1994, there were about 40 million Americans without health insurance who were using ERs as their primary source of healthcare. That's doubled now. We have a

The Dept. of Ed has released several major updates on the processing of income-driven repayment plan requests submitted by federal student loan borrowers, some of which are a bit concerning. Here's a breakdown. forbes.com/sites/adammins…

One of the steepest learning curves of medical school has honestly been financial literacy and planning. Growing up low income, I was told to work hard so that I *could* change my socioeconomic status. No one ever talked about the *how* of navigating wealth.

I get why they’re proposing this. But at the same time, med school tuition bloat is out of control. Average graduate debt is ~230k and rising. Residency pay remains relatively low. As the debt burden climbs, med students will follow the incentives (higher paying specialties).

This isn’t news. Because this reconciliation bill isn’t a law yet. But lots of docs are curious because they’re understandably worried how much more their loan payments could be under the new GOP plan. So, if that’s you, read on.

Appreciate your patience PGY-0s! What I think new interns with federal student loans should do: 1) Consolidate 2) choose IBR (assuming you e-filed your 2024 tax return and it was low or $0 income your payment will be $0 regardless of whether IBR is 10 or 15%) 3) once RAP

Glad to see these visa restrictions have been reversed. But it's estimated ~1,000 incoming residents are yet to secure a visa as July 1st approaches. What a nightmare.

To anyone in a new role this month: You’re not unskilled or incompetent. You’re just new at it. Be kind to yourself as you learn.

I wrote a paper about this in high school. Still boggles my mind how little people know about Americas failed proxy wars, especially in Afghanistan. The CIA also funded and supplied weapons to the fighter groups that later formed Al-Qaeda… but yeah, Islam is the problem.

“In MSF’s nearly 54 years of operations, rarely have we seen such levels of systematic violence against unarmed civilians.” The GHF-run food distributions in Gaza, Palestine, have become sites of “orchestrated killing and dehumanisation”, not humanitarian aid.

A writing prompt from “The Book of Alchemy”: “Indulge in your own ‘What else?’. Start with a grievance, frustration, or fear. Ask yourself ‘What else?’ after each sentence for as long as it takes to feel a little catharsis.” I wrote about being an EM intern. An excerpt ⬇️:

Yes this hurts tech, but a $100,000 fee for H1-B visas will decimate U.S. healthcare. ~ 1 in 4 medical residents + physicians are international med grads. Often they match into unfilled residency slots and work in underserved communities, e.g. rural GA. washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/…
