So, some thoughts after finishing A Well Trained Wife. 1) I am sure the primary rebuttal to this book is going to be "this isn't what we want, look at all the good hierarchical trad marriages out there!" And I think that the book contains its own rebuttal to those on two fronts:

It's like taking a hostage video at face value. If you go on a podcast and say you just love obeying your husband and being his helpmeet in a context where we know you will face consequences for saying otherwise, I just can't take it seriously.

Filing for divorce isn’t what breaks the covenant of marriage. That’s contractual paper work. What breaks the covenant of marriage is: Lying ❌ Cheating ❌ Deception ❌ Hard heart ❌ Manipulation ❌ Cruel treatment ❌

This is why β€œwomen initiate 70% of divorces” has always rung hollow Since when is filing the paperwork initiating the actual divorce? Usually it’s the end of the divorce, not the beginning

One of my mentors told me that I wasn't the one breaking the covenant of marriage by initiating divorce. I was just telling the truth about it being broken.

chris evans Funny how the "Men's Loneliness Epidemic" coincides perfectly with the "Women Can Do Pretty Much Whatever They Want For The First Time In History" era. Could be related 🀷

i've seen people say, "i know the sweetest christian girl who still lives with her parents and is so submissive and she can't find a husband" and the thing is....most men looking for a "submissive wife" don't want a woman who is already submissive. they want to make her submit.

Wow this Dungeons&Dragons movie is really fun and good? Like, the script is inventive a funny without being snidely ironic, the VFX is fantastic, set design and cinematography is consistently interesting and above-expectations? This was not a generic brand tie-in cash job.

If a man can't be trusted around children, he shouldn't be in your home. Your job is to protect your child, not cater to a creep

I’m told Ted Cruz is on track to lose. (This message brought to you by β€œsomehow I got on a list and they think I’m my Republican mother”.)

I can either use my energy to stay still on camera or I can use my energy to pay attention to the meeting. One or the other, I can’t do both

As a child protection professional, homeschool alum, and alum of Gutenberg College, I can confidently say that Robert Bortins is wrong here. Homeschooling is not child protection. Most homeschool groups, in fact, are unsafe for children as few have good child protection policies.
