Richard couldn’t help but laugh, clearly amused. “Rise, shadow,” he said, moving to sling his own bow on his back. “I must admit, I’m surprised to see a young lady out in Sherwood. Don’t you know these woods are haunted?”

“You? The ghost?” Brows raised in mild surprise, the King simply folded his arms across his chest. “And here I thought Robin of Loxley was the only one to haunt these woods.”

“And your first home?” Eyeing the girl’s own weapon, the man was impressed. Ushering her to walk with him, he began to speak with the young woman once more. “It’s good to know my friend is still alive and well. I know the Sheriff has taken much from my people.”

Richard was happy to continue his journey with some company, and once the young woman caught up to him, he began walking again, this time a bit more slowly so she could keep up. “I see. And Gisborne? Is he still strutting around as Lord of Loxley?”

“Indeed, but you love it,” he replied, drawing her in once more.
