So many Muslims watched this trial unfold with horror & anxiety over the past few months. We carried that (+everything else we’ve been carrying) often imperceptibly, as we continued performing professionally and socially. We can finally put down this particular weight & heal.

The heartbreaking details of this story haunt me in my dreams. It’s a lesson of the horror that we capable of inflicting when we refuse to see the humanity in others. Your brother would be proud of you, Yusuf Faqiri. Thank you for making sure we don’t look away.
