Wonder what Cannon-Brookes thinks of his co-founder's data centre hub growth in Australia? Going to require tonne of energy. Given he's so pro-renewable, I'm sure he's aware that all the big data companies in US are expanding into nuclear! abc.net.au/news/2025-07-3…

Never quite the chance to shred all my old tax docs and bank statements when I relocated from Melb to Bris. Then sat on it for nearly 10 years. My shredder is working overtime. God knows why I kept all these...

I remember losing a lot of proposals in tech space to PwC when I was in Melbourne. Now I know why... Big brands don't guarantee certainty... When will the market realise this? afr.com/companies/prof…

Requests from startups to simply sign off on these fast growth competitions of late. The lack of understanding by both sides on eligibility is poor. Been asked to sign off "solvency" today because the template says so....um no.

Basic question here relating to share placements on the ASX. Why doesn't value shifting/market value substitution apply where companies place shares to new shareholders at a discount?

Tomorrow's negotiation will be interesting. Apparently the majority owner of a property syndicate doesn't quite understand how units that own commercial property are valued incl the unpaid rental profit over a decade.

Negotiation went very well. Could have been even better bad the client let me negotiate the number. Businessmen who try to bully minority equity holders and call tax dodgeys as "entrepreneurial" need a good kick up the ass. Won't stand for it.

The worse ATO review question is always "Reconciliation of GST sales at G1 of BAS to sales reported in tax return". Ummm - Cash reporting v accrual for accounting/tax? WIP revenue? Sale of fixed assets? Always shows me they're ticking boxes.

When you have a financial controller who seems like they've just finished uni and want to debate accounting with me, it's frustrating. Instead of getting defensive of their work, they should be looking process improvement on where they went wrong. Accounting is so easy.

Compare the two ways of explaining a finance teams existing process in their ERP to my proposed way: You can tell who is the bookkeeper v an accountant right?

First time I'm actually dealing with an ATO case officer with a direct mobile to him. This will be an interesting experience.
