Presenting to the #ialegis today is UNI Business & Community Services. Our business and community services outreach serves clients in all 99 counties. The state’s investment serves Foundry 4.0, family businesses and succession planning, student entrepreneurship & local and regional development.

Every week during the legislative session the NISG students will be at the Capitol advocating for University of Northern Iowa We’re thankful they’re taking the time to share their stories and experiences with lawmakers about what UNI and the education they’re receiving means to them.

Today was the 15th annual Regents research day at the Capitol for students from all 3 universities to showcase their research to lawmakers. Here is University of Northern Iowa NISG Pres Samantha Bennet and Emmalee Fannon with Rep Steve Hansen from Sioux City. A lot of great projects today!

Thanks to the lawmakers who stoped by this morning to tour the game changing UNI@DMACC partnership to meet the needs of diverse learners to get their bachelor’s degree online including elementary educators, criminal justice, business and the flexible liberal studies degree.

Great to meet with UNI Legislative Liaison team members for the last time this session. I also had the chance to welcome UNI professor Dr. Chris Larimer and his Iowa Politics class to the House today.

Last day for the NISG legislative team to visit the Capitol and they had a great conversation with Senate Appropriations Chair Senator Tim Kraayenbrink about what UNI means to them and their future plans using the degree they will be receiving.

Today is the first day of Iowa’s 90th General Assembly. We look forward to working with the lawmakers and telling them about UNI’s outstanding story!

Whether it’s visiting with a lawmaker outside the elevator as she is going to her next meeting or seeing a University of Northern Iowa alumni legislator in the State Capitol basement, the NISG students are working hard and making connections that benefit UNI and our students!

The #ialegis House Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee invited UNI Business & Community Services to present about the business and community services UNI provides. We’re proud we serve all 99 counties in Iowa with family business assistance, economic dev, waste reduction and Foundry 4.0.

Great to see the UNI purple in the Iowa Capitol today. Our NISG students are working in a bi-partisan way advocating for University of Northern Iowa with two UNI Alumni elected officials, Rep Timi Brown-Powers and Rep Hans Wilz.

International Education Opportunities was the topic and University of Northern Iowa was asked to present to the #ialegis International Relations Committee meeting today at the World Food Prize Foundation building. Former Governor and Ambassador Terry Branstad stopped by to give remarks.

The NISG students worked very hard this session on legislation for UNI, especially the passage of HF 671 regarding the counselor compact. Your work made a difference!
