Reading rec question: is there a good literature on lending by gender and race after the subprime mortgage crisis? I'm finding a lot of papers about trends pre- and during the 2007/8 crises, but not much talking about the aftermath.

Last week's UN climate negotiations at Bonn focused on setting a new global climate finance target―but I'm worried that there's no serious plan to achieve it without addressing the global debt crisis.

Since Matthew Yglesias devoted his full column to attacking our new issue of The American Prospect, me, and my org Groundwork Collaborative, a few responses. 1) a lot of his column is a straw man. The issue is called “how pricing works” bc it is indeed about how * pricing * works, a micro phenomenon. 1/6

it sucks that they bailed on the child tax credit, it was a really good thing, and it was also a bummer to me how little fight there was for “keeping the CTC going” on the left at the time it was being decided relative to e.g. student loan forgiveness

I was especially furious to see attacks on disbursing cash or the tax credit mechanism. Calling them “neoliberal” or insinuating that provisioning goods is an substitute to sending cash in a capitalist economy. Or that the IRS couldn’t build the capacity to disburse payments.
