Many congratulations BBC Singers Owain Park Super Bruckner motets. BBC Proms Such beautiful, intense, glorious sounds. A fitting tribute to Bruckner's 200th birthday & to your 100th! Locus iste brought shivers. (+ fond memories of performing it in Wiener Staatsoper years ago.)

I don’t know why I know more trombonists than any other instrumentalist. I’ve been in touch with a few of them recently: friends and/or former students. I never learned the trombone, but was once appointed as honorary trombonist in Paderborn and rasped Bbs in appropriate places.

Home from an extraordinarily good recital given by two Bolton Students Dana Rybiantseva (violin) and Harry Bowden (piano). From Telemann to Messiaen and including Stravinskly, Bartok, and Debussy along the way. Then a super supper with them and the Kings. Lovely!

Very sad to learn of the death of Graham McEvoy, one of the country's finest ever Euphonium players, with a glorious sound and consummate musicianship. I had the privilege of working with him Besses o' th' Barn. Here he is (from 3:18) in 1987. youtube.com/watch?v=zPFecJ…

What has Kodak's story got to do with music education organisations? Nothing? Think again. Organisational resilience. Pretty much the bedrock for growth and development. If you're in doubt, ask Music Mark for a copy of my October 2019 paper on the topic.

Some on here know that I'm a keen cook (sometimes). Tonight I decided to experiment with what I had left in my fridge: pancetta, courgettes, prawns, lemon, parmesan and thin spaghetti. It needs refining, but, if I say so myself, it was nice! Sometimes simple dishes are the best.

Planning for my visit to Halle, Leipzig & Dresden 🇩🇪 with German friends. It's the only part of the country I haven't yet visited and I'm very excited. We'll take in places related to Handel, Bach, Wagner and others. Also visiting Pirna and Radeboul for a wine festival. Prost!
