Absurd to say that publishing Gray derails a police investigation/prosecution. These are fixed penalty notice offences. No lawyer I have spoken to thinks this is necessary. Democratic accountability, and the ability of government to function, demands full and prompt publication.

No 10 makes history as the first rowdy party venue to be relieved when the police show up.

I don't generally reach for the darkest interpretation of events, but the Metropolitan Police's behaviour is pushing me that way. First a refusal to investigate offences others have been prosecuted for? Then both stalling and apparently neutering a report into those events? Bloody hell.

The Metropolitan Police have shut down the #GrayReport. Johnson will not for now be called to account for lying to the HoC. This is a stitch up of the kind normal associated with rogue states. The institutions upon which British democracy is built are crumbling before our eyes
