Working with community developers & the Town of Milton, Conservation Halton was busy building new wetlands in the Sixteen Mile Creek floodplain last year. 2,400+ trees & shrubs were planted and another wetland is in the works to be restored later this year! #climatechange

With less than three percent of native prairie grasslands left in Ontario, the restoration at Glenorchy will help support this rare ecosystem and a diverse range of native plants, birds, mammals and insects, including a number of endangered species. (📷: Falco Precision Services)

Everyday we work to conserve wetlands & floodplains, but also restore them. Since last year we've been planning a project to restore new wetlands in 16 Mile Creek. With community developers, we'll soak up floodwaters,⬆️climate resiliency, +5K trees/shrubs #GenerationRestoration

Thanks for the Greenbelt Foundation & to the City of Hamilton for the partnership on this great wetland restoration project. After the successful implementation of 2 phases, we are moving forward for on additional restoration over the next two years for this impactful project.

A big welcome to this newest wetland in Milton. Last year we restored a Sixteen Mile Creek floodplain creating several small pocket wetlands. Only few months under their belt, they are capturing rainfall, cleaning runoff, & providing valuable ecosystem services. Conservation Halton
