The Palace of Versailles has around 15 million visitors a year, and France hasn't had a monarchy for 232 years since they excuted all but one. So, for all the Royalists out there, bleeting on about tourism.....shhhhh.

My one gripe with the film Yesterday is that the Suffolk accents are not very Suffolky. It’s about the intonation. Suffolk is not West Country. Go and spend an afternoon in any pub in Beccles or Lowestoft and you will know exactly what I’m talking about.

Fighting is important but your energies might be better employed in other types of activism. Having seen how the crisis of liberalism has played out in the U.K., I can’t see how that cynical party shift to the right to win votes is anything but inevitable.

Honoured to have been asked to review ED’s brilliant new film “The Fight for Haiti”. Thank you to AyiboPost for publishing this. Last few tickets left for the London screening next Tuesday! eventbrite.co.uk/e/free-screeni…

Great interview with ED for Make It Plain. Kehinde Andrews asks all the right questions in this deep-dive on Haitian history and the context surrounding the social justice campaign against corruption and impunity in #Haiti.

In March, we lost my stepdad, in circumstances which were objectively horrible. And this might sound stupid or banal, but there's something about experiencing that, and then looking at the scale what's going on in Gaza, and just being unable to comprehend how it must be for

Great meeting tonight of the renewed #Haiti #APPG at UK Parliament, the first of two London screenings of @etantdupain’s new film #TheFightForHaiti. Catch the second tomorrow (Tues 19th) at QMUL’s Bloc Cinema!

Talking to my partner about my childhood, I had vocal cord polyps & nodules removed at 8 after coming to Aus. Most people with them are singers, but mine were from hysterical crying & screaming in war as a baby. I keep thinking of the children experiencing this stuff 💔

The rainwater has flooded our tent, soaking our bedding and clothes. The strong winds are tearing at the nylon covering. We have lost any sense of comfort, and our lives have become even worse. As I check on others, I find some friends building a wooden room to protect themselves

Another great event last night - a cinematic screening of @etantdupain’s #TheFightForHaiti hosted by Queen Mary University of London’s Centre for Crime and Climate Justice followed by a really excellent Q&A session. Chapò ba, friends. Also great to catch up with Michelet Romulus - MRICS and Shodona!

Can any of my #aca pals who are still on here recommend any good studies (articles, edited volumes, MGs) on the ethics of recreative practice/practice as research at the intersection of decolonial studies? Or anything near enough adjacent? I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

You should not take seriously any writing or commentary on 'colonialism' or 'empire' from anyone who has no word to offer on the current genocide in Gaza.
