I came across this untitled oil painting on canvas by Adrian Heath from 1954, and loved it so much I had to share it. Something about the greys and ochres πŸ’› [Image Credit: The Redfern Gallery, Adrian Heath - A Retrospective]

A cold night but I doubt I’ll find anything quite like this today. We live in hope of small wonders to lose ourselves in for a while

Brown Leaves, 2018 [Leaf Photo Series]. These leaves came from a bush that was pruned by my husband in the autumn of 2018. They dried naturally to an attractive rich shade of mahogany brown and will surely appear in a painting in one form or another. #NickyScholnickLeafPhotos

I was looking at old picture frames I had stored away years ago, and found three Shirley Trevena prints. I was delighted to see them again! She was influential to me in the 1990s, mainly for her experimental, loose style which brought out the beauty of watercolour paint.

[3/3] White Daises by Shirley Trevena. This is a scan of a watercolour print which I found in an old frame I purchased (image size 10x10cm). I love the simple subject matter and style. #ShirleyTrevena

[2/3] Pansies by Shirley Trevena. This is a scan of a watercolour print which I found in an old frame I purchased (image size 10x10cm). I love decorative still life with flora. Here, a patterned tablecloth enhances the composition. #ShirleyTrevena

[1/3] Paper Roses by Shirley Trevena. This is a scan of a watercolour print which I found in an old frame I purchased (image size 10x10cm). I love the play of blues and the various paint textures. It is my favourite of the three prints. #ShirleyTrevena

One of my favourite artists, Shirley Trevena talks about her approach to watercolour painting - from depicting flora to her love of still life with pattern and altered perspectives. #ShirleyTrevena youtube.com/watch?v=kDl7Zf…

There are leaves covering every patch of bare earth along this gentle walk in Tiverton, Devon. They are mainly oak and beech leaves, from the king and queen of British trees.
