The ‘toe’ part of a riverbank is the bit most affected by flowing water and, therefore, erosion. We’re in Wainfleet installing anti-erosion measures to protect this most vulnerable part of the Steeping River. It’s all part of efforts by Steeping partners to reduce flood risk.

We have started surveying on the River Eau in #Lincolnshire between Susworth & Scotton, to assess underwater features such as silt deposits. This will see if any targeted maintenance works are needed to help improve channel capacity & flow #floodaware

First site visit in ages deserves my first tweet in ages. A trip up to the Isle of Axholme to Dirtness pump station and surrounding network. All part of the rationalisation work with the IDBs to improve efficiency, make the system affordable and lower #carbonemissions

Had the chance to visit #Misson reservoir/wash lands today. Was great to see the area and understand how the reservoir helps flood risk and biodiversity. Please check out our new website full of useful information about the river #Idle #RiverIdle consult.environment-agency.gov.uk/east-midlands/…

It's been almost 9 years since the 2013 tidal surge flooded 1,100 properties and 7,000ha of land around the Humber. Climate change means these events could happen more frequently. Make a plan and be prepared #Humber2100 #HumberFloodRisk #PrepareActSurvive gov.uk/prepare-for-fl…

We're working in Partnership to manage the future impacts of tidal flood risk around the Humber and help local people prepare for the future. What can you do to prepare? gov.uk/prepare-for-fl… #Humber2100 #PrepareActSurvive

We’re going to need a new approach if we are going to continue to manage #tidalfloodrisk in the face of #climatechange –this will mean we all need to think differently, be bold, and #adapt to change. Find out more about #Humber2100 at arcg.is/u1rPj

A tidal flood could have serious consequences, and the risk of storm surges is increasing with #climatechange. Are you prepared? check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/plan-ahead-for… #PrepareActSurvive

A flood resilient future will mean working with nature. Nature-based approaches, such as wetlands, can create valuable habitat. This not only supports flood management but also provides ecological resilience around the #Humber. #Humber2100
