It seems we haven’t progressed as far as I’d hoped when it comes to clients paying illustrators for their work. Let’s get one thing straight guys - we are not hobbyists, we are not people who use exposure as currency and we certainly don’t do work from big brands for free.

Continued from last tweet. I was approached a couple of weeks ago to do 3 hours of live illustration for a florist event on South Molten St - they promised me exposure (not a great start) and yes, you’ve guessed it, no fee. I responded with my day rate and hoped they come back...

I was emailed a measly sum of £100. I respectfully declined. Shout out to all you big brands out there - please stop doing this, it’s really disappointing and sad to see how much you’re devaluing illustration.

Lastly Venus et Fleur I hope your event goes well, it does sound lovely BUT in future, you should think about how much you value illustration?Receiving emails like this simply isn’t cool. Please consider the illustrator &the work they’re doing for you. #bigbrandsneededucating
