Great. Bring it on. Long overdue. I have seen too many conscientious staff who have raised legitimate concerns having their careers wrecked and health ruined.

Of course, legislation on its own wont change culture, but frankly on this issue, I've had enough of ducking and diving, avoidance and denial by leaders, and seen too many good honourable people (including some leaders) destroyed whilst wrongdoing goes unaddressed

A day of mixed emotions as today is my last day 📣working in the #NHS after 38 incredible years. It’s been an honour to serve, grow, and make a difference. #Proud to be probably the #first #nurse from East Asia 🇭🇰to become an Executive Nurse Director too! Hoping that more

Bangladeshi, Black African and Pakistani families are up to 5x more likely to be living in severe poverty for a long time compared to white families in the UK 📢 We've carried out new research to understand what these families experience and why they have this elevated risk 1/6

Joseph Rowntree Foundation (@jrf_uk) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Even after considering well-known risk factors there are still significant unexplained reasons why families from these groups are in persistent very deep poverty compared to white families. And protective factors are less effective compared to white people. 🔽 2/6

Some 6% of white private and social renters are in persistent very deep poverty This rises to 15% for Bangladeshi and Pakistani social renters. For Pakistani private renters it is 17%, rising to 20% for Black African private renters. 🏘️ 3/6

There are significant underlying and unquantified factors beyond standard poverty predictors, as higher risks of persistent very deep poverty remain for people from these ethnic minority backgrounds compared to white families after controlling for usual predictors. ⬇️ 4/6

Joseph Rowntree Foundation (@jrf_uk) 's Twitter Profile Photo

-Pakistani and Bangladeshi families are still around three times more likely to be living in very deep poverty for a long time. -Black African families are still around twice as likely to be living in very deep poverty for a long time. 5/6

Any investigation into people’s experiences of very deep poverty that does not consider the racialised experiences of minority ethnic groups will be hopelessly incomplete. 🔎 Find our report: jrf.org.uk/race-and-ethni… 6/6
