So I see a Republican senator is arguing there shouldn’t be voting on Sunday because of... the sabbath and God? I remember that commandment. On Sundays, thou shalt watch football in packed stadiums drinking beer, but thou shalt not exercise your constitutional enfranchisement.

Tonight the Georgia legislature rushed through a bill that will make it harder for millions of Georgians to cast their ballot and make their voice heard in our democracy.  Voting rights are foundational and the Senate must act to protect them by passing the For The People Act.

Tonight Georgia’s legislature passed a bill brazenly intended to make it harder for Georgians to vote. Among its outrageous provisions: it criminalizes *giving water to voters who are waiting in line.* It’s no wonder Gov. Kemp hid behind closed doors while he signed it.

Imagine making it a crime to offer water to people waiting in line to vote.

Arresting a sitting member of a legislative body, while in session for knocking on the door of the Governor is wild and completely unacceptable. Are there laws against knocking on the Governor’s door in Georgia, what is she actually being arrested for?

Every county democratic Party should be writing ops eds to local papers outline the laws that make it harder to live.

Rep Gilligan is a traitor to democracy. She voted for a law that makes it ILLEGAL to give water to voters waiting in line to vote. A law that makes it harder for people she doesn't like to vote. This is action against democracy, not in protection of it.

We're understandably focused on bills/laws being proposed/passed to restrict voting and which hurt election integrity in several states, but we should be paying particular attention to what is happening in TX, right now. /1

The law the corrupt GOP passed isn't in response to voter fraud (there was none), it was in response to voter turnout (which elected Dems). They can smell what they're shoveling, they just assume their base won't do the work to realize it themselves. Despicable, the lot of 'em.

To be seen as a deadly weapon before being seen as a human being. To live your life in service, only to be dehumanized and criminalized in your uniform. To fight for peace and justice, only to be denied it yourself. I have felt this too many times. It hurts, and it ain’t right.

Jeff Bezos did nothing impressive. Russian Migs can essentially do what he did. NASA did what he did -- and 70 years ago. He could instead pay his workers a living wage. A disgusting display of wastefulness. Shameful. Nothing to celebrate.
