A small team mostly focussed on Hawfinch & other passerines in the central New Forest & coastal fringes; we also dabble a bit in waders & terns.

You'll have to take my word for it, but this was one of 6 Hawfinches at Netley Heath today. Also in attendance: 2 Siskins and several Marsh Tits. SurreyBirdClubNews

This is the very last thing our threatened Hawfinch population needs. This disease sent the Greenfinch into a rapid decline which thankfully now looks to have turned a corner 🔽🔽

Great to see more juv Sedge & Reed Warblers in the nets, along with Linnet. Yet to persuade large flocks of Goldfinch feeding on thistle nearby to join them Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve

Been a slow start to the ringing year so far nice to get 23 birds in the garden this morning, including a couple of Nuthatch. #BirdRinging

Yesterday we did our first BTO CES (constant effort survey) session of the season at Keyhaven catching 37 birds of 12 species. Highlight for me was catching a regular Whitethroat, first ringed in 2018 and recorded on site almost every year since.
