I no longer want to be commended on my resiliency. I want to see the systems redesigned so that there’s not a need for me to be resilient.

Pleasure to discuss how Harvard University isn't really the meritocracy we dream it to be and Zoom University is not the future of #highereducation . Post-Corona, college will be more disrupted then you know. Dan Senor

Colleges survived w/o international students for one year. But how about two? Nearly 1,300 institutions are at "high risk," says Shorelight Education -- meaning they have at least 1/4 of international students from places where travelers prohibited from entering U.S. h/t Karin Fischer

The fact that many colleges are at high risk w/o international students underscores two obvious, unspoken points: 1. international students typically pay full tuition and 2. only the very wealthy international students can afford a US education.

While a college education is extremely valuable, this has become distorted to mean: “there is virtually no limit to how much money you should borrow to get a college education.” Or, related, “there is virtually no limit to how much college should charge.” newlaneuniversity.com/newlane-univer…

1/3 There’s a whole world of student debt that no one is talking about. In fact, most people don’t even realize it exists. Millions of students have racked up billions of dollars in debt owed directly to their own colleges and universities.

Per the The Chronicle of Higher Education’s updated style guide: Reporters are encouraged to think twice before using the term “elite colleges,” and to ask ourselves instead if we mean to emphasize their wealth or selectivity. I applaud the scrutiny of this lame, catch-all term.

I think all exams should be open book. It increases note taking skills that are actually used in life and the work place and it would decrease exam stress. It’s unfair to assume all students can retain mass amounts of info. Exams should be application based and not a memory test.
