Our new framework describing how fear of falling turns maladaptive (from protective) is finally out in Age_and_Ageing. Final paper from my Fellowship with Will Young and mark wilson (and Elmar Kal). Probably the one I am most proud of. academic.oup.com/ageing/article…
Our latest in Curr Bio. We use a VAE to visualize parakeet vocal signatures and identify mechanistic similarities and differences in songbird vs parrot song systems - congrats Zhilei Zhao and team with Han Keng Teoh from The Cohen Lab. authors.elsevier.com/a/1iDg13QW8S2S…
Extremely proud to announce that our paper on spinal cord stimulation to restore sensation in people with lower-limb amputation is out in Nature Biomedical Engineering! An NIH advisory group announced today that they're recommending the agency boost its minimum #postdoc salary to $70,000, up from the current $56,484. Many postdocs feel "underpaid and overworked," a co-chair said. My latest for ScienceInsider: science.org/content/articl…
What are the hottest and most important topics in DBS, neurotechnology and neuromodulation? The speakers and topics for each year's DBS Think Tank are chosen based on your submissions. The meeting will be August 21-23, 2024. We encourage everyone to make suggestions! Link below
Great panel on muscle spindles and their modulation in movement! Thanks to Surabhi for organizing and the complementary works by Surabhi Simha Alessandro Santuz Michael Dmitriou with discussion help from David Franklin NCM society
Going to American Society of Biomechanics #asb2024! Check out work by post docs Kristen Jakubowski Michael Rosenberg PhD students Sidd Nathella, Autumn Routt, and undergrads Benjamin Fargnoli and Joon Han Kim.
Congrats to Taniel Winner on her paper showing persistent individual differences in gait dynamics across walking speeds using a data-driven RNN model of gait. We could identify individuals regardless of gait speed using only kinematics. nature.com/articles/s4159…
So proud of Taniel Winner on her publication showing individual differences in gait dynamics signatures across walking speeds! A product of our collaboration with Gordon Berman & Neuromechanics Lab is Lena Ting catalyzed by a 'winning' #BME PhD student (now Doctor)! nature.com/articles/s4159…
