Neurodiversity Training International Hi Jude - I’m an autistic primary care doc in the US who has taken 3 of your courses. I will never forget when you polled attendees for initial associations - the responses were mostly all deficit-model. I think it starts with the way healthcare providers talk with families.

My name's Jude Morrow. I'm 30 years old, I'm a social worker & I'm #autistic. I knew I wasn't like everybody else. I always academically did well, & I had a classroom assistant w/ me from when I was five, right up until I was 16. #neurodiversity #autism buff.ly/3xuALdV

I have spoken before about the challenges that #autistic children face in classrooms, which is that there's an underlying expectation that children need to fit in, they need to be like everyone else, but that doesn't stop at 18. #neurodiversity #autism

So how can #autistic people survive & thrive in the workplace? The only way to do that is acceptance, & a strengths-based model, where discussions can take place that identifies their strengths #neurodiversity #autism

How can autistic people thrive in the workplace? It's all about accepting different ranges of talent and ability within your organisation, in order to thrive as one big family. #neurodiversity #autism #autistic buff.ly/3repPyA

What #autistic children need above all is acceptance. In order to set them up to thrive in the world, they need to be taught that they are not broken, & are not in need of being 'fixed'. I wish there was a Jude Morrow that I could have spoken to. #neurodiversity #autism

I know that every parent in the world with an #autistic child wants to do what's best for their children. Likewise, my parents did that for me, & the main reason they did that is that they absolutely accepted me for who I was. #neurodiversity #autism

When my first book "Why Does Daddy Always Look So Sad?" was released, I toured all over the country, & it was as much benefit to me as it was to the people who were there, there's was this underlying acceptance & understanding between ourselves. #neurodiversity #autism #autistic

I wish there was a Jude Morrow that I could have spoken to when I was having these identity struggles in my mind, & visit your group. It means that the group members will themselves have hope. #neurodiversity #autism #autistic buff.ly/3eO4irx

I have looked far and wide for quite a long time to determine, in any society or culture where maintaining eye contact is considered cordial or good manners. #neurodiversity #autism #autistic

Neurodiversity Training International (@neurodiversityi) 's Twitter Profile Photo

A lot of people would say when they think of #autism or autistic children that they see eye contact as some form of an issue. The fact is, only around 5% of #autistic people have issues with eye contact. People just communicate differently, and that's ok. #neurodiversity

I have never really had an issue with eye contact. Does that make me not autistic or less autistic than other people? Certainly not! People communicate in different ways and that's fine. #neurodiversity #autism #autistic buff.ly/2USo4LV
