It's sad to see writers who actually work w/ teens being told they don't know how to write teens. Publishing have YOU met a teen? Better yet have YOU met a non-white teen? Basing your opinion on what white fiction & experiences dictate as adolescence is a form of gatekeeping.

Her name was Meg, which was the name of the cat I had, lost, and mistook her for (long story). But that turned into Meggy-Moo, then Meggy Moo Moo, then Moo Moo, then Moo, then I (former music-theatre kid) started calling her Mee May My (Mo) Moo so it's landed on Meemay.

I grew up with a cat my dad had since before I was born and we had this kind of relationship. I'm a cat dude for life now.

One of the hardest parts of being disabled is dealing with the ppl who are certain your illnesses are your fault. That you aren’t trying hard enough. That you failed. That if they become disabled they will “overcome.” Disability is NOT a moral failing. It happens to everyone.
