Listening deeply and reflectively may be the greatest superpower. It's a skill that has to be practiced. It has been so helpful in supporting my mom's long term care journey and helping her to maintain some control over her life. I wonder where listening fits into equity.

“But how can you say, it was only talk, so no harm was done? Were this true, then your prayers, and words of kindness, would be a waste of breath." Not my words, but definitely my truth.

They ban books and promote guns. A book has never killed a child in a classroom. And these folks are trying to convince you they are “pro life”. Read it again. A book has never killed a child in a classroom

I was fortunate to have a mom who was my role model, but I and my kids never had a black teacher. And still almost at the end of my career there are only 12% racialized teachers in HWDSB. HWDSB

This is an example of what I have been saying about the the shift in teaching reading. Reading is both the ability to decode and unlock the pieces and the ability to put those pieces together to see the puzzle. One without the other doesn't create great readers!
