Today has been declared a NO BURN DAY throughout Northern California. Our scheduled burn at the Forest Ranch fire station has been canceled for the day. Currently, the forecast remains favorable for the rest of the week, so the Loafer Creek project is still on for tomorrow.

There are several control burns scheduled today. We are at Loafer Creek Rec Area burning 150 acres of grass and brush over the next two days. Butte Fire Safe Council is burning 172 acres near the same location. Plumas NF is burning 227 acres off LaPorte Road today and tomorrow.

CAL FIRE/Butte County Firefighters in Bangor responded to a unique call this morning. An owl had gotten its wing stuck in a barbed wire fence. The firefighters cut the fence to free the owl, gently wrapped it up and took it back to the fire station. Great work guys!

Crews responded to a fire south of the Gridley-Biggs cemetery this afternoon. The fire burned a transient encampment and impacted a nearby large oak tree. Fire is knocked down. Overhaul cleanup operations are underway. #BrothersFire
