Thesis #26 of Luther’s 95 theses says the pope grants remission to souls in purgatory. He was wrong but guess what. I still read Luther bios and eat candy corn on Reformation Day. Theological precision is the work of God not infallible saints. No need to cancel Aquinas.

Charles Spurgeon owned many works by Aquinas. Here’s Aquinas’s commentary on Matthew’s Gospel. And of course Spurgeon left a note that says it all: *A pearl but in the oyster shell.* Spurgeon is a great example for Baptists today. Thanks to Geoff Chang and Spurgeon Library

If John Newton was around and spoke like this today, he would be dragged, trolled and cancelled. Here are some of his thoughts on politics and true patriotism: 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

Spurgeon on pastoral visitation: Let me just remind you that there is a vast difference between truly spiritual pastoral visitation, and the chit-chat and gossip which sometimes go by that name; and remember also that there are other ways of keeping your people together,
