Field studies of one of the reported 3 White-rumped Sandpipers at Beacon Ponds, Spurn. A British tick and my first since seeing two in Canada in 2003. Got the clinching features but not all the detail due to the hazy conditions. Cheers Wader Quest

The Tree Sparrow breeding season was badly hit by the early harvest. It looked like they were going well, but in the end 1026 young fledged from 119 pairs at an average of 8.6. This is above average, but it's the worst breeding season for 5 years. They need a good winter now🙏

This is what happens when Peregrine comes to visit at high tide! A murmuration of Avocets on the Flamingo Pool, Cliffe RSPB. They form a huge flotilla in middle of pool for safety. Fortunately I’d just counted the 3,330 birds! Also the Stone Curlew still present😊 Wetland Bird Survey

It’s looking a bit like autumn! Plump, luscious fruits are brightening the hedgerows like vibrant jewels, beautiful, but can you identify them? This week find the fruits of wild plants, snap away & post your lovely pics for #wildflowerhour this Sunday 8-9pm using #fruits 🍒

Calling all South West #birders The BTO South West Conference is coming up, and it looks like a really interesting day... Talks about locally important species by local and BTO speakers, and I'll be there speaking about #Wildlife Gardening More here: bto.org/our-work/event…

A lot of Sea Aster in flower on the Medway Estuary today, much of it partially submerged at high tide. A well camouflaged Willow Emerald hanging on in the wind. #wildflowerhour

More wonderful views this morning of the male 2nd calendar year Red-Footed Falcon at Elmley NNR RareBirdAlertUK. Very active as the morning warmed up despite the strong breeze chasing dragonflies
