As we commemorate the Genocide against Tutsis, I can’t help but think of Palestinians being massacred in a Genocide for decades to this day. We can’t normalize seeing their deaths on our screens. Never again should be Never again for all of people. We owe it to them to speak up.

As we head into the commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, I’m thinking of that interview where Palestinian children are asked what their wish was amidst the occupation & genocide & one asked the audience “is there a dream bigger than going back home?”

This year, I reflect on the kindness my family showed. And I pray to become that kind of person. I have something to give. By the grace of God, I choose kindness. I choose forgiveness. And I refuse to let hate be my legacy.

We are the generation that inherited what that grief built. Which means our goal is not to arrive, we are already here. Our duty is to make sure the question of arriving too late is never asked again. In memory. In truth-telling. In refusing to let hate and genocide ideology

A gruesome fact I recently learned about the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, was how they called raping girls and women "kubabohoza" as in they're sparing them death, they should just make them rape rats💔
