As Black History Month nears again let’s remember that it’s not history just for Black people. It’s arguably more important for non-Black people to learn about the both the beautiful and heartbreak stories of Black people. If the schools won’t teach it, we have to seek it.

14 children. 14 CHILDREN. God, the United States is a nightmare. There is a literal tangible opportunity to be “pro-life” that continues to be ignored. This is incredibly frustrating and gut-wrenching. Sick of seeing news like this. THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

This will never be normal to me. We can’t let ourselves become detached and numb to these massacres. Everyone should be terrified, quite frankly. Whether it’s you, your sweet kid, your grandma at the grocery store, very few of us are safe out here. Literally terrifying.

Governor Abbott, if you have any decency, you will immediately withdraw from this weekend’s NRA convention and urge them to hold it anywhere but Texas.

When it comes to race and the uncomfortable conversations that have to be had, especially in medicine, people suddenly become extremely obtuse and play “devil’s advocate” a little too much for my liking. That’s the slippery slope that perpetuates the same dangerous systems.

There are nuances to racist behavior but they are ultimately still just that - racist.

The relative silence from other groups re: AP African American Studies mess is quite... loud. Imagine a state trying to formally wipe Jewish history, Asian American history, or other marginalized groups from AP curricula. If they come for us, they can come for yall, too.

Gentle reminder that prejudice + power is the definition of racism. You can be prejudiced and even biased (which many people are) but once you have the power to carry out systemic discrimination - THAT is racism.
