I'm excited to share my lab's first preprint! It describes Affinity Map, a highly general method providing proteomic profiles of binding affinity for small molecules, peptides, and antibodies in cell lysate, organ extracts, and live cell surfaces. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Kurtis Carsch Tariq ⌬ Comes up every couple months. Short answer, no. Hg provides: regioselectivity complement to B without the rearrangement seen with acid. The mercurinium mech has strong parallels to the halonium intermediates seen in alkene funct.

Kurtis Carsch Tariq ⌬ Yes, the Mukaiyama is good non Hg alternative but far too much mechanistic complexity for orgo I (or II even). Epoxidation/reduction not reliably regioselective. Oxyl radical addition gives same regio as B and doesn't solve complexity problem.

Kurtis Carsch Tariq ⌬ Yes, it is good to want to use relevant reactions, but none of the alternatives are good or acceptable teaching tools pitched to the appropriate level for standard organic I. I introduce it with the caveat: this is persistent challenge without a 1-size fits all fix

Kurtis Carsch Tariq ⌬ I use it to say "look we don't have all the answers still. Chemistry is not stone. We can keep advancing and learning more and better ways to do things"

The left has failed to radicalize the masses because people don't read anymore. Nobody has the attention span for Marx. The plan? We hire Huda from Love Island to post a 70 part TikTok series in which she explains Das Kapital in situationship terms.
