Ballast Hills was the primary non-conformist burial ground for Newcastle from the early 1600s until 1853. To provide recognition for those buried there and to reconnect the community with its history is the mission of Myra Giesen. How do you feel about and use burial spaces?



Suffragettes, Chartists, Hoppings... Today we explored the history of the Town Moor in Newcastle with the lovely young people at West Jesmond Primary School, as part of their Local History Week. West Jesmond Primary


This Half Term, Karbon Homes are again giving support to local organisations to provide xtra food for the community. We all meet regularly at the Byker Children and Young People's Partnership. Together we're trying to beat holiday hunger on the estate.

A great event yesterday at Newcastle City Library, part of our community history project with former nurses of the Newcastle General Hospital, supported by Engage@NewcastleUni / Health Innovation Neighbourhood.


Brilliant day with the team of young people, Foundation Futures and Mark One87, diving deep into the history of Byker, its communities and the built environment, to develop design ideas for the next phase of local street art. #HistoryInTheMaking Karbon Homes Historic England
