If all you run is eurocentric medieval type games in your #dnd games, you're a.....fine DM. It's perfectly fine. Doesn't make you boring. Certainly doesn't make you racist. Doesn't make you anything but a DM who runs games a certain way, just like if you don't run eurocentric.

Alyssa Mercante is no longer here 𝔔𝔲𝔢𝔩𝔞𝔞𝔤 🖤 Hey Alyssa, You're apparently a journalist from Kotaku - So I'm guessing you haven't worked in actual game development yet. Let me try to explain the thing you posted about, which I'm guessing was from that hitpiece from a few years back. Yes, I'm guilty of what's stated in

Following up here, just finished Son of the Black Sword from Larry Correia . Highly recommended. While I tend to be a Tolkien favoring nerd, have to say, the taut writing and excellent, efficient, world building made it easy to understand the major points from the get go.

This Skill Up review of Dragon Age Veilguard is devastating. "Every interaction sounds like HR is in the room." Does a great job of using examples to argue his opinion. Sadly, it appears BioWare is truly dead. youtu.be/QF-Kd2BBpx8?si…

Melissa Belladonna 🧪✨ Tiefling Alchemist Vtuber Hey. Rob Kuntz here. You want to interview me about the real reason Musk defended the founders from unwarranted attacks by WotC via Tondro and Peterson? I'd be happy to clarify that it was not because of using the connotative meaning of Grognard, which derives from the French

WotC hiring an outside consultant company to tell them to ban their own set, one of their most popular, from 10 years ago, for the thinnest of reasons, is bananas. This company is apparently completely incapable of ever getting out of its own way. 😂

Looking at Hasbro's 2024 results, I think this might be the first time that D&D tabletop RPG revenue has decreased with the release of a new edition. How'd that happen? It lines up with a lot of what I've seen in the marketplace: (1/5)

Because I'm at Gary Con and feeling salty - I think the idea that younger gamers want a "safe" game - whatever that means - is utterly wrong. Participation trophies are there to make the parents feel good about themselves. The kids know it's a show.

The meaning of play comes from the sense of risk. We roleplay because it is a place where we can experience risk, loss, and defeat without enduring tangible harm. We're wired as humans to roleplay to learn how to navigate life's twists and turns.

Whether it's a dead character or failure in whatever context the session presents, the bigger the threat, the more meaning play has to us emotionally and spiritually. Removing it from the game turns it into time-wasting slop.

I always assumed the seven dwarves were just like, Tolkien dwarves. I have never ever assumed them to be humans. Am I alone here?

Navy DM (@navy_dm) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is obviously happening for some, I just wish I could figure out and quantify why this has not happened to me in the decade or so I've been running 5e Table variation obviously plays a part, but it's curious what the missing link is.

I'm beating a dead horse at this point but my god, what the hell happened to the art direction at WOTC? Those new Realms books have such uninspiring art. It's like the characters are posing for instagram. At least have them doing something heroic. Geez.
