The Inclusive Education Summit is currently taking place in Birchwood Hotel, Benoni. Organised in partnership with the Dept of Women, Youth & Persons with Disabilities, the theme of the two-day summit is "Accelerating Inclusive Education: Leaving No Learner Behind." The objectives of the summit are to acknowledge progress and gaps that still exist in the implementation of inclusive education; formulate strategic interventions of addressing identified gaps and to develop a clear implementation plan.

The delegates have now gone into various commissions, including one on ECD, to further discuss the objectives and come up with recommendations which they will share with the rest of the delegates.

The #CSEQolloquium which started yesterday has, this morning, resumed at the CSIR International Convention Centre. Kicking off today's proceedings is UKZN's Dr Ndumiso Daluxolo Ngidi, with a presentation on widening inclusive education through #ComprehensiveSexualityEducation.

Steve Letsike, presenting a paper he co-authored with Dr Patrick Ntombeni & Prof Anthony Brown on role of #ComprehensiveSexualityEducation in redressing harmful practices such as Conversion Therapy, speaks on the effects of these practices on psycho-social wellbeing of children.

Summarising the conclusion of the paper, Prof Anthony Brown, Head of the Department of Educational Psychology at UJ, posits that any form of conversion therapy should be banned as it contradicts the constitutional rights, care and support for diverse sexual identity embodiment.
