After dawn at Swinemoor, it was a joy to head to North Landing and watch the seven Lesser White-fronts, one of which is bearing Swedish colour-rings. They spent the whole time bullying their companion Russian White-front juvenile Flamborough Bird Observatory BirdGuides

Thanks to Nathaniel Dargue, the ringed Lesser White-fronted Goose in the flock was released as a juvenile in 2018 and it’s the first time this bird has been seen in the UK, only seen on breeding grounds in Sweden and wintering grounds in Netherlands so far

Lovely watching a nice mixed flock of finches, feeding on seed heads in the frost this morning. Mainly goldfinches, with smaller numbers of greenfinch, linnet, chaffinch and lesser redpoll, including a couple of striking males

A good start to a weekend in Norfolk with the lads, great views of the Shore Larks at Holkham this afternoon. A quick edit of one photo, before heading to the pub for a few pints and some pizza! BirdGuides Norfolk Bird Records

Great views of these Black Guillemots gearing up for spring, at Belfast’s City Quays a couple of weeks ago. Lots of vocalising, display and checking of nest sites BirdGuides

I keep forgetting to ever post any photos here, favouring mostly putting them on eBird instead. But here’s some Dipper photos from yesterday evening, just over the border in Scotland. A pleasure to watch them coming and going feeding in the white water.

Great to watch the male Buff-breasted Sandpiper at East Halton Marshes yesterday evening with Miles Cluff. Seeing him in full display was a sight I thought I’d have to travel to rural Canada for, so seeing it in North Lincs was a real pleasure! Lincsbirding BirdGuides

Adjusting back to British birding after Lesvos has been tricky, as it always is after a birding trip abroad. Getting the opportunity to see Quail up close in the LDV yesterday certainly helped LDV NNR York Birding BirdGuides

A quite unexpected start to the day finding this Great Reed Warbler at Fairburn. Even more exciting to find out it was a 1st for the reserve! It made for tricky viewing, rarely showing in the dense reeds, not helped by the wind RSPB RSPB Fairburn Ings and RSPB St Aidan’s BirdGuides
